Do Abortions Hurt?

Do Abortions Hurt?

Like any difficult situation, having one or more abortions carries emotional and physical ramifications. Whether or not abortion hurts is one of our most commonly-asked questions. While people sometimes experience initial relief, many clients who come to our center report experiencing profound emotional and physical pain of loss that they have had to carry alone.

If having an abortion is what you are considering, we want you to know that you are not alone in asking hard questions. We are here to provide you comprehensive abortion information about what you might experience before, during, and after an abortion.

We will also offer detailed information on all of your pregnancy options and resources for you to best navigate your options.

As a non-profit organization, we will never financially profit from your pregnancy decision, breach your privacy, or withhold compassion and support from you based on your pregnancy outcome. A free, confidential consultation will allow you to confirm your pregnancy, estimate the progression of your pregnancy, and ask any questions you may have regarding abortion pills or procedures.

Surgical v. Medical Abortion

Depending on how far along you are in your pregnancy, you may elect for a surgical or a medical abortion.

A surgical abortion is an outpatient procedure where a doctor uses chemicals and instruments to terminate and remove the fetus from the body. Depending on how far along fetal development is will determine the complexity of the procedure.

A medical abortion involves the use of medication – also known as an “abortion pill” – to terminate the pregnancy. Medical abortions are done before 11 weeks of pregnancy.

Abortion Legality

In the state of Texas, all forms of abortion are illegal. Online abortion drug retailers selling the abortion pill manufacture drugs that are out of the country and not approved by the FDA. It’s important to note that Hope provides services that are 100% confidential, so no questions are too difficult to ask.

Post-Abortion Care

An excellent way to cope with both the physical and emotional pain that can come with having an abortion is to be a part of a community that supports and understands you.

A great place to find these communities is at your local pregnancy center. At Hope Pregnancy Center, we offer free post-abortion care to women, regardless of how long ago their abortion(s) were.

Ready to get started, simply send a text to 254-602-4321 and speak anonymously with one of our post-abortion care experts. You can also book an appointment at one of our Central Texas offices.

Explore your pregnancy options with a confidential appointment.

As a non-profit, we will never financially profit from your pregnancy decision or undervalue your privacy. Process your options in a safe, judgement-free space.
